43rd Annual Mayor's Cup Invitational Regatta

Got this tonight from the New Haven Yacht Club, which was founded in 1882. Don't recall hearing much about this in the past, but if you've been running an event for 43 years. it's got some validity. Here are the details:

DATE: Sunday, August 8

ENTRIES CLOSE: Wednesday, August 4

FIRST GUN: 1100 EDT

STARTING LINE: In the vicinity of Morris Cove, on the east side of New Haven Harbor

ELIGIBILITY: All yachtsmen and yachts must meet the eligibility requirements for the ECSA
Offshore Racing Circuit, as set forth in the 2010 ECSA Yearbook

CLASSES: At the discretion of the Race Committee, according to PHRF/LIS ratings; a Cruising Canvas class will be started if there are sufficient entries COURSE AND To be determined by the Race Committee, depending on wind/weather conditions

DISTANCE: distance will be approximately 20 miles, shorter course for Cruising Canvas

FINISH: Same as Start

RACE: The Race Committee of the New Haven Yacht Club will manage the race

MANAGEMENT: in accordance with current ISAF and USSA rules and the Sailing Instructions

CHANGES TO Rule 26 (Starting Races) will be changed to a 10-minute sequence as detailed in the RACING RULES: Sailing Instructions

SAILING Will be available from the Committee Boat prior to the first warning; racers

INSTRUCTIONS: are reminded to check in with the Committee Boat prior to starting

AWARDS: At the party at the New Haven Yacht Club immediately following the race,

PRESENTATION: the Mayor's Cup Trophy will be presented to the overall winner on corrected time; in addition, trophies for first, second, and third in each class will be awarded

OVERNIGHT: Those wishing to spend Friday or Saturday night will find space to anchor

ANCHORAGE: in Morris Cove to the north or west of the Club mooring area. Club moorings are unlikely to be available. Please do not pick up a mooring unless directed by the launch attendant. Launch service to anchored boats will be available until sundown; contact NHYC on VHF channel 68

ENTRY FEE: $45.00 per yacht, includes party; $5.00 surcharge if skipper is not a member of the United States Sailing Association (USSA)
