Wednesday's Best

A daily look at the best of the local sports scene ...

-- The AHLs Sound Tigers have a pretty great deal with free tickets for kids 12 and under if purchased at the box office.The Sound Tigers take on the Providence Bruins at 7 p.m. at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard.

-- In high school hockey, Massachusetts powerhouse Catholic Memorial takes on Fairfield Prep at 1 p.m. at the Wonderland of Ice

-- In high school boys basketball, both area prep schools play host to Fairchester League playoff games. Hopkins plays host to The Masters School at 5 p.m. and Hamden Hall plays host to King at 7 p.m.

-- All four Division II basketball teams are on the road.

The schedule:

MEN’S BASKETBALL: Southern Conn. at Assumption, 7:30 p.m.; New Haven at Adelphi, 7:30 p.m.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL: Southern Conn. at Assumption, 5:30 p.m.; New Haven at Adelphi, 5:30 p.m.
